Kate and cancer.

 Kensington Palace has released a personal and moving short video of Kate and her family - doing family things. Like walking in the woods, running in the sea and playing family games - just like millions of ordinary families across the world. She was diagnosed with cancer in December last year and started treatment earlier this year. She said she was now "cancer free". Today there will others struggling with a recent diagnoses of cancer and how distressing that will be, but as she said poignantly "out of darkness, can come light". 

What a dramatic change of tune from when George VI had cancer and died in February 1952. There was a terse statement - that the King had died peacefully in his sleep. Queen Elizabeth, as she was now - was in Kenya and came home. She went out as princess Elizabeth and returned a few weeks later as Queen Elizabeth II. How life has changed - from stuffy formal - almost Victorian in style and manner - to this heartfelt video. I had tears in my eyes as Kate, spoke about her personal journey. This will help many millions around the world.
