Cheese anyone?

Some years ago the French president Charles De Gaulle, famously said "how can anyone govern a country with 246 different kind of cheese"? Well today in Britain we out produce the French by a - country mile. Apparently we are the proud producer of over 1000 varieties of artisan cheeses, almost double the French at 550. At the recent World Cheese Awards, four of the top sixteen cheeses were from Britain. The highest number of any country or region. The supermarket chain Sainsbury's plans to sell these artisan cheeses from June 19. What a turn around from only a few years ago. The chap who came up with the idea 17 years ago is - Edward Hancock, his company is Cheesegeek - is ridding the crest of a wave as more shoppers want a distinctive cheese - not mass produced ones. The cheese business in the UK is worth a staggering £4 billion pa. Wallace and Gromit, will be very pleased with Edward Hancock. Cheese anyone?
