My cathederal project.

In March 1993 I started my project of seeing all the many cathedrals in England. My first one was the magnificent Ely - set in the flat countryside of Cambridgeshire like a vast marooned battleship. Well over the last few days I've now ticked off two more, Hereford and Worcester. I wouldn't put them in the top rank of great architectural majesty, but they are certainly worth a visit. This is particularly true for Hereford, which has the ancient Map of Mundi, made in about 1300 - from one very large piece of vellum. At the centre is Jerusalem which at the time was perceived as the centre of the religious world as many believers made their pilgrimage there. So despite the inclement weather, I've put two more cathedrals to bed.
