On ITV there is a programme about the current political crisis facing the country. Inside Iran: The Fight for Freedom. After the death in September last year of a young women, who was attacked by the so called - morality police for not wearing her hijab correctly. Apparently there was some hair showing on her forehead. For this - she was murdered by state police. The political issue underpinning the crackdown is - the fear by the regime that if they give in on this contentious religious belief, then the state regime will collapse. They must therefore hold the line, otherwise the dysfunctional theocratic system will implode. They are themselves governed by fear and hand out fear to their people. Why is there no functioning democracy in a Muslim country - don't they believe in these concepts? In Britain and across Europe we had the Enlightenment, but it never got further than the European continent - to the Muslim world - why not? How profoundly depressing, especially if you live in Iran, this benighted country. Watch this programme and learn about life under a terrible regime - and that country is Iran.
Slip of the pen there, but a good one. It’s their “morality” police that you’ve rightly turned it into their “mortality” police.
