800 years of history.

 Today at The Royal Courts of Justice, we had an historic occasion, the first female head of the criminal justice system, as Lady Chief Justice. Lady Carr, is 59 and has many years of senior experience in the legal profession. The role comes with an overwhelming number of responsibilities - of some 400 legal duties. She said at the ceremony, "the rule of law is a fundamental constitutional principle and touchstone". May she have a long and successful time in this ancient role.
