Good Friday.

When I worked in the NHS at the Middlesex Hospital in London back in the 1970's I ran for 10 years a Clergy Support Group. There were some 6 members of the cloth and 3 nuns in the group. They were drawn from the Bishop of Willesden diasosis. Some would talk of this Easter time as the busiest period of the year. However today the pews are less crowded than they were even 40 years ago. The Church of England despite being the established church is under threat from lack of attendance and indolence. Nevertheless it still plays a central role in our national life. What would we do if it didn't exist, we would have to invent something similar? Long may it continue.
