Why Birmingham?

There are few wards in Birmingham like Hodge Hill, Washwood Heath, Bordesley Green, Sparkbrook and Springfield that have produced a disproportionate number of terrorists - Why? How much is it to do with poverty and deprivation, or is it to do with a lack of integration, or is it the local Muslim community alienated from the main stream? Clearly there is no simple causal explanation to something so complex. Nevertheless is worth trying to isolated the underlying possible and probable causes. Andy Street the mayor candidate for Birmingham has suggested that 'poor economic prospects may have been an issue in radicalisation'. The governments Prevent strategy is an attempt to stop those who might be considered a possible threat, being encouraged into a re-education programme. The terrorist lived and grew up in that archetypal town of middle England Tunbridge Wells. His two brotheres are successful businessmen and his parents now  live in rural Wales. What happened to turn him on the road of a murderer and terrorist?
