Its just not cricket.
I'm very pleased that Afghanistan has reached the next cricket World Cup in 2015 in Australia and New Zealand. Will it have an impact of the antediluvian social structure in this medieval society? I watched last night with horror Channel 4 Unreported World about the atrocious treatment by men of women in that country. The Teliban is resurgent in the light of the military forces leaving by the end of 2014. What has been achieved? There has been so much blood spilt by British troops and Afghanistan people that it all feel like such a total waste. What will happen to the rights of women after 2014? It all feels very depressing. I read today that many of the women police officers are resigning as they fear for their lives after the troops go home. The corruption in the political class is notorious and endemic. I have no faith that life will get better for women - it will be back to the dark ages for them.
