Ten years on from the War in Iraq.

The labyrinthine story to the build up to the Iraq War in 2003 is bewildering. We have had the Chilcot Inquiry, but as yet no report. We had the in inquiry into the death of Dr David Kelly that produced more 'heat than light'. So last night we had the latest episode in the protracted saga - The Iraq War a three part series on BBC 2. For once I was not disappointed with the result. We had behind the arras discussions on the issue of WMD and whether Saddam Hussein had them or not? A revealing insight was the fact that his generals also didn't know whether they passed them. So at the very start of the war, all were in the dark apart from only a few in the inside circle. The conundrum is fascinating, if he didn't have them - why go to war? Some have speculated it was about saving face, in particular with Iran and Israel the old enemies. I look forward to the next two chapters for more understanding.
