Blowing the whistle!

No one loves a whistle blower. Some years ago in the EU a person in the department dealing with budgets-Euro-Stat was disciplined for blowing the whistle over the fact that data was being fiddled. Euro-Stat was like a modern day Procrustean highwayman. The problems for BP were further exacerbated by the revelation on the BBC Panorama programme last night-that there were serious safely issues with the project in the Gulf of Mexico. An oil worker-Tyrone Benton said that they were informed of the leak and about the faulty part but nothing substantial was done about it. We know what happened next! Will Tyrone Benton be promoted or sidelined? Whenever you hear about someone in for example the NHS-blowing the whistle-they are never thanked but disciplined for professional misconduct. I think its to do with guilt and the fear that those further up the ladder will be found out-so they punish the person lower down. It is claimed that the weekend revelation about the affair Chris Huhne Secretary of State for energy and climate change was having-was punishment for revealing the phone-hacking that occurred at the News of the World under Andy Coulson's editorship and Rupert Murdoch's ownership. So he had enemies in powerful places. As The Guardian suggested-public life ought to be able to accommodate such people without having them cut down. Some hope!
