In The Sunday Times magazine today there is a long discursive interview with Starmer with Josh Glancy. I must say he comes over as dour, a bit like Gordon Brown, one time prime minister. Both are serious football fans, but for very different teams, Arsenal for Starmer. He claims the reason for the general - cock up for domestic policies is he has been preoccupied with international events. Harold Macmillian said as much when he was prime minister (1957-63). ‘events dear, boy events’. These throw you off balance. In my opinion it’s not sufficient explanation by Starmer to claim he has - taken his eye off the ball. There will always be events - dear boy. The question is can he recover so much lost ground? Im not convinced by him. Someone like Wes Streeting, has more credibility and better - back story. If Starmer, was to fall under the proverbial bus, either he or Angela Rayner, will take over.
