 According to the Ministry of Defence in London, an estimated 550,000 men have been killed or wounded in the war in Ukraine by Russia. Moreover there are no winners in the long term - only a lost generation of young people. Eventually there will be a decision about - how to end the conflict? There has also been a NATO agreement to fast track the application of Ukraine to the alliance. Putin has therefore failed to frustrate this process - which was a reason for the initial invasion - as he wanted to keep Ukraine from joining. In the short term the - meat grinder continues into another year - with the loss of blood and iron.
