The most extraordinary race in the Olympics on Monday, where Tom Pidcock, pipped - the French rider to win an unlikely gold medal. Pidcock got a puncture in his tyre and consequently lost 30 seconds - in the demanding off road cycling. He won at the Tokyo games four years ago in 2020. However this time with the unfortunate puncture, there was little chance of him winning again. They hadn't bargained on the determination of Pidcock - who was set on gold. Amazingly - he did pass the French rider Victor Koretzky, at the very last few meters. He said after the gruelling race "I was determined to win". As the saying goes 'the opera isn't over, until the fat lady sings'.
