Assisted dying.

Today in the House of Lords, a private members bill will be presented - as the first reading of the Assisted  Dying Act. The government has indicated that it will allow a - free vote when in comes to the Commons after the summer recess. Over the years this issue has been talked about, but there has been no progress. Now with a change of government and Keir Starmer, in agreement, there is a real possibility it will be on the statute book within the next year.? The touchstone issue is the question of being - terminally ill and only having 6 months to live. According to a recent survey across the country, some 72% thoughts change in the law was now necessary and desirable. Hitherto the bishops in the House of Lords and others have blocked the way forward, but not any longer. Thank goodness - humanity and sanity is about to arrive.
