Wolf Hall a modern story of power and intrigue.
Last night we had the sumptuous Wolf Hall on BBC Two. We have been waiting a long time for this tale of power and intrigue and were not disappointed. The book by Hilary Mantel traces the life of Thomas Cromwell who's start in life as the son of a brutal blacksmith to the top post in the land as the intimate adviser to king Henry VIII. Cromwell in played with consummate ease and power by the brilliant Mark Rylance and Henry by Damien Lewis. They are an an equal match to each other on screen. The aging but powerful Cardinal Wolsey in played by the excellent Jonathan Pryce. The cast is overall very good. My opinion of the six part drama at the centre of the Tudor court - is this is date TV at its very best.
