Wise after the event.

The community nurse Pauline Cafferkey from Blantyre, South Lancashire has been transferred from the hospital in Glasgow to the specialist unit at The Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London. She arrived at Heathrow and transferred to a flight to Scotland, but has since Sunday developed a high temperature, a possible symptom of Ebola. Now there are the knives out for those who let her slip through the apparently chaotic screening measures. Its so easy to have 20+20 vision, but we don't live life in retrospect, but in the here and now. No doubt things could have been done differently, but we are where we are, so what should happen next?
When at the LSE one of my favourite subjects was health economics, the underpinning issue will be a lack of focus on the one hand and funds on the other. Treating Ebola must be taken seriously and not in a haphazard manner. There must be clear protocols for all stages of the procedure and process. These needless to say must be rigorously adhered too. Public health officials are now scrambling to make up for lost time and confidence in the system. Having said this all things being equal we shall now see the public reassured. Lets hope she will now fully recover her full health and be able to return to work.
