The end of the Cold War for Cuba.
Its taken a long time to bring Cuba in from the cold, but better late that never. I remember in 1963 crossing the Atlantic and approaching Cuba on the SS Orcades in the Merchant Navy and being stopped about 200 miles out by an American war ship. We were searched to make sure we have no missiles on board. Only a year before we had had the Cuban missile crisis, when the world was almost blown to smithereens's. In Havana today there are cars from the 1950's as if the place has stopped the clock. I'm sure there will be much anxiety on behalf of many Cubans about this rapprochement with the evil empire only 60 miles to the north. On the other hand many will be pleased that their families will be able to travel, without too many restrictions. This will be the legacy that Obama leaves behind, something real and tangible that is not all about guns and butter.
