More bling for everyone!

The Economist has produced data to tell us that at bling is doing very well thank you despite the international economic downturn. The report says that a wapping £1.15 trillion was spent on luxury goods and services in 2012. On luxury cars the sum was £437.8 billion and for jewellery and watches £61.2 billion, clothing £69.5 billion. What's interesting is that the majority of the top brands are European labels. So having the right logo is necessary for everyone. The brand LVMH which includes top names like Louis Vuitton and Moet Chandon champagne have been doing great business. The big spenders are the Chinese and the Russians. Many of these super rich head out of town to the retail park at Bicester Village and splash the cash.
In the week when the Archbishop of Canterbury lambasted us in Britain because so many of out fellow countrymen and women are going hungry and are cold - this must all seem rather obscene. So Bob Geldof will have to sell a lot of CD's to make up the difference for the poor and destitute.
