What do couples row about?

The top ten irritations are apparently according to research by Pringles yes that's correct. They are as follows: 1. Leaving clothes on the the floor. 2. Leaving wet towels around the house. 3. Bad bathroom habits. 4. Always using the phone. 5. Disagreeing about which film to watch. 6. Messy or bad eating habits. 7. Deciding who is cooking. 8. Picking your nose. 9. Drunk sexting. 10. Looking up your ex's Facebook page. One of the most contentions is number five and rows are often about this. Men generally like actions type films, whereas generally speaking woman prefer more romantic movies. Many hours have been spent watching things they secretly hate, in order to maintain a civilised relationship. However over time this becomes too much of a burden and is difficult to maintain the charade and tempers and rows can follow.
An interesting one is number six - messy or bad eating habits. I have known this to be a fertile area of conflict. When I worked as a family and couple therapist the problem for them is often linked to class. The more upper/middle classes have a particular attitude to good manners. Which was less important generally from working class backgrounds and this can be very contentious. A couple I worked with she was from a very upper middle class profession family and her working class bloke had very poor table manners and as a result she would never invited him to her parents home as he was so embarrassing. Needless to say the split up.
Having compatibility in these things is cardinal if you wish the relationship to last beyond the first blush of romantic love and sexual lust.
