The London shyline is rapidly changing.
As someone who has lived in central London from the age of 17+ I love the energy and pulse of the place. Now apparently this real estate in the city is worth a cool £7.2 billion. The first one of the tall buildings was the Post Office tower but was soon overtaken by other siblings thrusting up to the sky. Centre Point was a place of many fights with the police mainly by squatters, wanting a place to put their heads. Now we have the Gherkin, the Cheesgrater, the Shard, the Walkitalkie, the Heron Tower (the tallest) and many more to come in the next few years. Why is London and the City in particular so popular with people who have money to spend? The relative stability of the political system, the rule of law, the financial hub of London, the culture and general quality of life from theatre, museums, art galleries, green spaces across the capital from Hampsead Heath to Richmond Park etc. Who would not want to live in such an exciting and vibrant place as this? As Dr Samuel Johnson said "when a man is tired of London he is tired of life" and who can argue with that?
