A public servant - Edward Snowden.

A film CitizenFour just released about the whistleblower Ed Snoden is about how we are all potential victims of the security services. This is meta-data collection and abuse on an industrial level. It was only when Angela Merkel was angry that she had been listened to by the secret services that Obama woke up and took notice. So this film by Laura Poitras is worth seeing and is an education into the new Orwellian Stasis world like East Germany that we are living in before the wall came down in 1989. The film was made in Hong Kong and then taken to Germany and now distributed for public consumption.
It has always been the case that politicians want to know what is going on for fear of any rebellion or disquiet from the public. Nevertheless this is on a different scale. The cover story is international terrorism - so they have to be 'safe and not sorry' for any blunder. The world wide web is 25 years old and is such an amazing invention and source of freedom and communication. Nevertheless the crazy IS fighters and other terror groups are able to use this facility to address potential naivete followers to take up their struggle. There has to be found a way that limits their availability without at the same tome jeopardising the benefits that the web offers.
