The West Lothian question or as we like to say down south - English votes for English issues! Cameron shot the UKip fox so soon on Friday at 7 am before the dust had settled in Downing Street. This has made Mr Miliband looking a bit like the proverbial rabbit 'caught in the head lights'. He has lost the initiative the No vote gave him via the Trojan work Gordon Brown had achieved by bringing home the bacon. I know this for some its an archaic question of the 'cats cradle' that is the British constitution, or no codify written constitution. That's part of the problem - if someone said can I have a copy - where would you start to look?
In my opinion rushing this issues is nuts as so much depends on the answer. We should consider in less fevered times than these. We can make a start by setting up a Constitution Convention of the best academics, layers, MP's and lay people to unwrap this Gordian knot and set up something better that all parties in the House of Commons can agree upon.
As we have written more constitutions for more than any other nations - surely its not beyond our collective wit and intelligence to come up with a good answer? As its the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta in June 2015 - lets celebrate with a new touchstone constitution.
