Social media.

According to many people the cause of the recent social unrest around the country has been social media. In particular they argue is the role of X -  now owned by Elon Musk, Tick Tock, Telegram, WhatsApp and Facebook. It isn't as simple as that? Establishing a causal correlation, isn't that easy. Clearly its necessary, but is it sufficient? Other more profound sociological factors are at play. Keir Starmer, should read the article in The Daily Telegraph today by Fraser Nelson, the editor of the Spectator. He addresses the underlying causes. He suggests, the problem is the failure of the political establishment to deal with - white working class boys needs. They are not succeeding in a way their contemporaries in the black communities are. The Nobel laureate Angus Deaton in his thesis Death of Despair - seeks to address the issue of the - crisis of the white working class boys across America. There are similar problems here in Britain, where white working class boys are failing. It could be due to social deprivation, poor education, high unemployment, poor health, age of local population and other factors. It would be interesting to map and see - whether these are more salient at promoting social unrest. It's so popular to jump on a band wagon, especially when it has momentum - but life is far more complex and problematic than simple explanations allow.
