St James's Park.

I was in St James's Park yesterday afternoon with a friend and the temperature was an astonishing 32c - I've never witnessed anything like this in London town. I once worked on a Kibbutz in 1967. It was Ein Gedi by the Dead Sea and we would start work at 5am and finish at 11.00 - it was far too hot to continue beyond that. The heat was like stepping inside a furnace, with the temperature at 38c - but occasionally it would go above this. For someone coming from Blighty this was a big shock. I was responsible for irritating the date plantation and at about 9am a truck would arrive with a collection of ice cold watermelons - which we would tuck into with alacrity. After work we would go the the swimming pool in the Kibbutz and then have lunch - we followed this with a sleep. Later we would return to the pool for more swimming and the evening was spent singing and smoking dope. What a great life.
