Wolf Hall closes.

Tonight is the last episode in the scintillating series Wolf Hall. Much has been made of the tyrannical Henry VIII but his reign was immediately proceeded by the bloodiest War of the Roses. He felt rightly that his throne was beset with external threats. This led him to feel paranoid about his immediate personnel and found it difficult to trust anyone. Thomas Cromwell was one person whom he did trust, but that was always held in the balance. He could easily turn against you on a whim. We can also see the religious tension that ran throughout the court between the Catholic Church and Popery and the newly formed Protestant faith. Moreover there is the underpinning theme of  - will he have a son? This was an important constitutional issue for the king and further created a sense of drama at the epicentre of the court. We see tonight how that is partly resolved by the execution of Anne Boleyn and the Tower of London.
