A crisis in modern capitalism.

The information coming out last week about HSBC was the latest in a long line of dirty linen being washed in the public arena. The general opprobrium poured over Lord Green the man in charge of the bank at the time has been been a torrent. Had we still had the stocks he would now be in them for us all to throw rotten tomatoes or whatever at him. This hapless chap is the current fool guy for the City of London. It has moreover brought the Conservatives into further disrepute. This doesn't go down well with the bulk of the citizenry across that land. There is now an increasing divide between the haves and the have yachts. There was an excellent article in the Spectator last week by Peter Oborne that acerbic journalist about the reason so many hate Miliband - is that his doing much better than many people expected. He has taken or vested interests and the status quo. I should as they say declare an interest his father Ralph Miliband the great polymath philosopher was one of my teachers at the LSE. Thomas Piketty the French Nobel Prize winner for economics in his latest book Capital draws attention to the dangerous looming social crisis. Modern capitalism is just not working for many across the country. We had riots the year before the London Olympics and unless there is a real change that divide will grow wider. Boy George Osborne who's ancestor is Henry III said on BBC 2 in 2003 that he "knew of good ways of avoiding tax". Cameron for his part is a lacklustre PM who is asleep at the wheel. We may be heading for that iceberg?
