Cricket World Cup.

In the last 20 years Afghanistan has developed its cricket team to such an extent that they are heading for the World Cup in Australia. The Taliban has let it be known that they will be supporting their team. Apparently cricket is the one unifying thing in this war torn and benighted country. Why cricket? Well its both an individual and team game that the refugees brought back from their time in Pakistan. Some have argued - rightly or wrongly - that if the French had had cricket that would not have had the revolution. I think that is stretching things a bit much, but perhaps there may be a grain of truth in this. However if they do well they may at some point meet England in the later part of the knock-out rounds. Lets hope they do well and have a great time.
