A shortage of school places by 2023.

According to the Local Governmental Association (LGA) by 2023 there will be a shortages of some 880,000 primary school places. This would be a catastrophe for their education if that was to happen. The present government claims that it is meeting this shortfall and planning ahead. However the LGA doesn't agree with the current planned expenditure, claiming its insufficient. Who is telling the truth? We know that if the Conservatives get back into power they plan to restrict all government department expenditure with one or two exceptions. We are talking big numbers - 888,000 kids are not able to fit into one class room, so something will has to give. We are likely to see an increase in the number of super-sized primary schools. At present there are 77 with over 800 students, that number will grow in the next few years. Moreover that will also feed into the 11+ secondary school system and they will have to provide super-sized schools to accommodate. Is this good for our children and their education? I think not.
