Midterm elections in the US.

The grand soap opera that is the American midterm elections are not this year turning up the heat in the kitchen. Obama with his rhetoric just over six years ago was able with his "turn the page" argument to get the staff out onto the campaign trail. Not any longer - he is a persona non grata - across the country. Why? The main reason being there is no one overriding issue to galvanise the voters. There is a clutch of issues that range from: the economy, immigration, same sex marriage, climate change, the Obama health care legislation. The so called 'war on terror' is not keeping the punters awake at night. Moreover there is such hatred of the folks in Washington that few if any will vote today. The calumny and blame game of politics is impacting across all states. In addition the House of representatives has now gone over to the Republicans so the only seats up for grabs are in the Senate and most punters think that they will hold that balance of power there also. Some have argued that this is not such a bad thing as Obama will be not blamed for the last two years of his presidency, as he can do no harm. This they suggest will give Hilary Clinton a clean run for office in the next two years. So we may see the first women president elected in November 2016. However for Obama his is now a 'lame duck' president hoping that nothing turns up domestically to throw the Democrats into an even bigger spin that they are now.
