About two weeks ago Bill Gross daughter handed him a piece of paper at some point in his very busy day. On this the ten year old girl had written that her father had missed 22 milestones in her short life. He was very devastated and distressed to read this from his daughter who no doubt he loved very much. His day stated if reports are to believed at 3.45 am and went through almost with no break until bed time at about 9pm.
He managed the largest Hedge Fund Pimco with assets of over $1.5 trillion. Some 53.1% in US Bonds and Securities the rest spread across a number of other high performing indices. However his touch was starting to fade as since 2010 following the crash in 2008 his Pimco Total Return Fund had lost much of its momentum and was down a number of points until 2014. Despite this many in the business had great faith in his ability to turn things around as he had on average out performed all other managers by a long way in the trade.
So his abrupt departure was for many difficult to fathom. He disclosed this incident with his daughter as a marker of what can happen to the most successful businessman and richest fund manager. What's the point he thought if you lose contact with those you should love?
