A war without end of mutual hatred.

There will be a 12 hours so called 'truce' is hostilities between Hamas and Israel today. Does any one believe that this will 'solve' this intractable hatred? No of course they don't! Is there a solution to this ongoing carnage? I watch the news last night and a number of adolescent citizens in Tel Aviv said that they thought the cycle of violence would continue 'for ever and ever'. They are probably right in that pessimistic assessment. In systems theory this is called a 'game without end' - as neither party can leave the 'field' that means leave the relationship or land. The reason being that at a meta level 'god' has decreed to each side that the land belongs to them. So what great authority than the court of 'god' to appeal to as both judge and jury in your case? So the foreign minister of Britain, France, Germany and the US will meet later today to discuss the feasibility of a seven day cease fire. Will that have the desired effect? Its like fiddling while Rome burns. This may sound like Casandra but its being a 'realist' not a pessimist. How many times have we had a false dawn - the Camp David Accord the endless so called diplomacy, the blackmail, brow beating, threats and coercion - all to no avail? When your as old as me you have witnessed so many occasion when one or other politician has utter words so patently untrue they are risible. Do you recall when president Arafat died in November 2004 there was rejoicing that a new opportunity lay before us? What happened nothing to speak of that made and substantial difference. A 'war without end' of mutual hatred.
