The joy of podcasts.

When I was younger we would plan our day around what was happening on - the wireless as it was called back then in the 1950’s. One in particular you just didn’t want to miss was a common favourite at the time the anarchic and extremely funny The Goon Show. If I remember correctly it was on a Sunday at noon and we kids would listen intently at the pure madness of it. Prince Charles, was a big fan and apparently was a good mimic of one particular character and that person was Eccles. The author of this hilarious madness was the unforgettable and irresistible Spike Milligan. We also had the actor and singer Harry Secombe and the funny and talented Peter Sellers, there was also Michael Bentine, but for only two years. The show ran from 1951 to 1960 and was extremely popular amongst fans across the country. However, the main problem was - if you happen to miss the show there was no way to catch up again, until now. The - joy of podcasts means we can relive the 1950’s and laugh uncontrollably. The main characters in the show were: Neddie Seagoon(Secombe). Eccles (Milligan). Bluebottle (Sellers). Henry Crun (Sellers). Minnie Bannister Milligan). There were some other characters, but I won’t bore you any more. Enjoy the podcast. This hilarious show, gave birth to such later successful and funny series as Faulty Towers.
