An eight part programme now available on BBC iPlayer is in the true Reithian tradition and must be seen by all who love history and art. The programme is entitled - Art that Made Us - and is stupendous, enlightening and educational in equal measure. We have the joy of 1500 years of art to absorb. When the Romans left our country in the 5th century, there was a general assumption that we would enter a dark age, this was not the csse. From them until today - these islands and it's people have produced art of the finest quality, skill and ambition. Even today we are recognised international, as a uniquely creative people and can therefore celebrate this creativity. If you want to feel uplifted during this emotionally difficult time, then sit down with a fine glass of Claret or other drink and feel proud of being British? It doesn't matter what your background, class or colour is - totally brilliant and thank you BBC.
