When the US Navy Seals killed Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan they also took away his books. We are always interested in what people read and what occupies their book shelves? So the release on Wednesday by the State Department of what he had to read is interesting. Apparently no novels. I guess that would indicated a softer side of this ruthless killed and that goes against his tough guy image. There were so it is reported many books about him. Clearly his narcissism was intact. He wanted to know what is legacy was going to be. Hidden away in Pakistan must have been very boring for this attention seeking murderer.
For my part I have a large collection of books ranging from novels to many political biographies. From my days at London School of Economics I still have a variety of historical and sociological books. My palate is very catholic. I'm reading a very good book at the moment by Jonathan Rose The Literary Churchill: Author, Reader, Actor. He was such a giant of a man and very human. He had a vast knowledge of literature in general and Shakespeare in particular and used it thankfully to great effect.
