Talks on the future of Syria.

Its not easy to feel that optimistic about talks today in London on the future political settlement in Syria. There has been so much blood split on both sides since the civil war started. Families have also been devastated by the brutality of summary murders. Moreover its impossible to know which of the opposition parties to back, as they are all vying for positions in a power post-war government. Moscow backs president Assad, the West the so called opposition (who ever they are). The spill over to the neighbouring countries like Turkey has also had a terrible effect of their political stability. There have also been many thousands of refugees fleeing the area and seeking to cross the Mediterranean into southern Europe via Italy to a safer future. Many hundreds losing their lives in the process. This has added strength to political rights wing forces across Europe. In France, Italy Greece and many other places are turning increasingly to right wing parties for solutions. The rise of the right is one of the most worrying aspects that is happening across the continent. As we approach the anniversary of the outbreak of WW1 -  its not impossible to imagine that if the Euro-zone economies collapsed, there could be further serious armed conflict.
